This page is dedicated to DE Jerome Brown who was chosen by the Philadelphia Eagles in
1987 during the 1st round of the NFL draft ( 9th overall ). He was a fan favorite and a great teammate to many during his
career with the team. Sadly though on June 25, 1992 Jerome Brown and his newphew were involved in a car accident in Florida
and both were pronounced dead. On that day people lost a friend, a son, a brother, a teammate, and most importantly a great
man.

As a player in the NFL Jerome showed great character and was very energetic and unique. Though some
viewed him as a trouble maker because of how he frequently came late to team flights and showed up without a tie to a team
flight which was a strict rule set up by Buddy Ryan at the time. There was more to Jerome though, other than what
some saw. Jerome was a very giving person and helped with fundraisers and paid bills for those who needed it most. He
even set up a football clinic for children in his hometown of Brooksville (which he stayed very close too) in the summer of
1992. The first annual Jerome Brown football clinic was also supported by other teammates including a very close friend of
Jerome, Reggie White, and other players including Randall Cunningham.
Though Jerome passed away not even a year after the clinic was opened he left behind a history and
had his jersey #99 retired soon after. Along with Reggie White, Clyde Simmons, and Mike Pitts the Eagles had one of the best
defensive lines in the NFL both on the field and off. Brown's clinic continued even after his passing and on May
20, 2000 The Jerome Brown Community Center opened in Brooksville.
